Sayeeda Khanam ( 1937-2020 )
The first female professional photographer of Bangladesh.
Living the dream of being a photographer at the most uncommon time and place is the story of life of Mrs. Sayeeda Khanam. Her career as a photo-journalist began from 1956 in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Sayeeda worked with Satyajit Ray in three films as a photographer.
Her photographs made its first voyage at the International Photo and Cinema Exhibition, Cologne in 1956. Soon her works were exhibited in Japan, France, Sweden, Pakistan and Cyprus. Her works on Mother Teresa, Rabindra Sangeet exponent Konika Bandopadhaya, Satyajit Ray had been exhibited many places.
Sayeeda Khanam received many awards and accolades from all over the world for her contribution in still photography, some of those are:
